The estuaries and coastal wetlands of the Texas Gulf are some of the most biodiverse places on the planet. They deserve our stewardship and respect.

One of the selected 2018 grant proposals that we are excited to tell you about came from the Lavaca Bay Foundation, a relatively new organization formed in March of 2018 to be the first environmental group solely focused on the monitoring and protection of Lavaca Bay.

With a grant from the Environmental Fund of Texas, LBF is partnering with Texas Sea Grant and Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic School. Science students will collect data at Bayfront Park, and educational materials will be developed and disseminated to increase the public’s awareness of their impact on the bay ecosystem. We are thrilled to make this project possible and to be playing such a large roll in the creation of valuable educational and outreach materials and outdoor science learning opportunities for school children.
